Meet the team: Spotlight on Lucas Hunter

Foy's Arcade Uncategorised 0 Comments

This fortnights spotlight is on Lucas Hunter, who has been around since the inception of Foy’s Arcade. If you have been to our space you can see Lucas’s contribution everywhere, from our official logo, down to the custom curated screens for each event and workshop we host. Lucas has shared his story below, including some extra insider info including how the name Foy’s Arcade came to be…

“My career started during my Uni Work Experience component (a whopping 700 hours) with FGA Melbourne doing a mix of digital and print graphic design work from 2013 while studying Multimedia Systems (Bachelor of Design) at RMIT. I ended up staying there until I graduated in mid 2015 and started freelancing for family and friends which extended into small to medium sized businesses; my work mostly consisted of logo and web design, as well as occasional print media and branding materials.

In August of 2015 Roger Seow, Digital Lead at ISPT asked me to help him bring some of his Digital initiatives to life, we started working together two days a week on internal projects like digital newsletters, websites and the occasional amateur corporate video. This eventually extended to full-time and all manner of digital and print work over the next year when the ‘collaboratory’ concept was brought to ISPT by Collective Social Intelligence and Erin Donnellon, the newly promoted Manager of Digital Delivery was tasked with making it happen. As part of the digital team I was sucked right into the project, and believed in the vision, but we needed a story…

Erin and I looked to find a meaningful way to bring what was known as ‘ISPTlabs’ at the time into a more fitting place, to find a name and identity that matched the contemporary fitout and the amazing technology. We were lucky enough to find out that the building we were in had a rich history, as the famous ‘Foy and Gibsons’ department store. On Level 6 (where we are now located), there was a rooftop fun park with the most fascinating little popup circus/theme park for kids and it fit perfectly into how we wanted to innovate and have fun learning and experimenting on this project. This is when the name ‘Foy’s Arcade’ was born.

Since our soft launch last year, we haven’t looked back. I’ve created graphics and supported experiences for an endless amount of industry events, workshops, conferences, seminars, fashion shows, panel discussions, board meetings, book launches, product launches, tech demos almost every day. You name it we have hosted and curated it – Foy’s has such a wide range of uses, the imagination really is the limit.

In January 2018 Collective Social intelligence picked me up to be a full time graphic and user experience Designer based at Foy’s. Splitting my time in creating and supporting experiences for Erin and ISPT, and producing front end content for CSI’s products and services, many of which are showcased at Foy’s.

Having such a huge pixel space over so many screens and top end computers is truly a designer’s dream, i’m so thankful that i get to bring value to ISPT and CSI’s customers and partners everyday, to be apart of impactful, memorable initiatives that ripple out over the wider community. To be apart of so many teams’ sessions, watching them get out of the ordinary and thinking differently and to hear their overwhelmingly positive feedback always makes my day!”

As you can see, Lucas is a Graphic Designer by trade however within Foy’s he really is the go-to guy for anything visual, virtual and even tech related. If you have any questions for Lucas you can email him at lucas@get-csi.com. For more info on our Partners CSI you can visit their website here.
