On January 9th 2020 Foy’s Arcade was honoured to be the venue sponsor for the Transgender, Gender-Diverse and Non-Binary Caucus. The all-day workshop formed a part of the #BetterTogether Melbourne #2020 Conference partnered by the Victoria State Government and Hobsons Bay City Council.
With an attendance of 90 people this is the largest gathering in Australia of #transgender, #genderdiverse and #nonbinary people ever to work together, discuss and ultimately form a National organisation for their needs within the community!
The Equality Project is a health promotion charity and the group that organised and lead the day with many concurrent interactive workshops in order for the different groups to meet, form relationships and tackle some of the issues they face on a State and National Level.
Their mission is below:
- To advance the health and social welfare of LGBTIQ+ Australians;
- To advance the education and training of LGBTIQ+ community advocates and leaders;
- And promote cooperation, participation and mutual respect between LGBTIQ+ individuals and communities in Australia.
It was a truly humbling and exciting experience for the Foy’s Team to be apart of this historic day and we thank all of our attendees for being enthusiastic and making the most of the venue. All photos by Kim Jane Photography and can be found on our Facebook Page.
