On Tuesday afternoon, the Property Council of Australia Future Trends & Innovations Committee hosted their final event of the year at Foy’s Arcade, focusing on Convergence in the Property Industry.
Erin Donnellon, Manager of Digital Delivery at ISPT and Foy’s Arcade introduced the topic of the night through a video of Torre David, the famous abandoned tower in Venezuela’s capital city, a true example of Convergence, setting the theme of the rest of the evening.
A panel followed moderated by Professor Jeff Jones, founder of Collective Social Intelligence (CSI) who in collaboration with ISPT created Foy’s Arcade. He interviewed Renee Nutbean (Future Trends Analyst) of ISPT and Louise Rolland (Executive Director – People Advisory Services) of EY covering the ‘rise of the machines’, and how this could affect the property sector as well as discussing the evolution of the modern working environment and what we can expect in the years to come.
After, Professor Jeff Jones introduced Michelle Fitzgerald, Chief Digital Officer of the City of Melbourne, Phil Alexander-Pye, Property Market Leader of Arup and Joe Stokes, Chief Operating Officer of Equiem and encouraged the audience to split up into 3 smaller discussion groups within Foy’s. The three curated workshops individually discussed Convergence and how these trends and drivers will manifest themselves within the individual, their organisations and more broadly within the industry.
Towards the end of the individual sessions, Professor Jeff Jones asked the participants to rank and score the importance of issues related to managing convergence. The results were tallied whilst each workshop leaders summarised their discussion to the audience. Jeff concluded by providing a brief analysis on the results, and what it represented about each group according to the findings.
Emma Hendry, CEO of Hendry and latest sponsor of the PCA concluded the event by pulling out the raffle winner, with proceeds going to the Property Industry Foundation (PIF).
